We live here. We work here. We call north Colorado Springs home. If you’d ask why, we would have hundreds of reasons.  For a start, it’s the spectacular beauty of the range of peaks that stand like sentinels guiding the eye to snow-capped, Pikes Peak. Natives – a proud lot with boastful bumper stickers -- will brag on and on and regale you with how quickly and accurately they can rattle off their names: Sundance, Chatauqua, Raspberry, Herman, Green and Blodgett.

But, most of us would say it’s also the thrills of major local events set against the mountainous backdrop. Ask anyone in Colorado Springs and they will probably tell you about the visit from the Thunderbirds at the end of every May. The pilots perform for the 1,000+ Academy graduates and their families, but locals feel like it’s all for them!  On graduation day, hundreds of thousands gather in parking lots or empty fields lining Colorado Springs’ main north-south highway to watch the “Birds” swoop down over the stadium in tight, precision formations and then sudden vertical take offs.

No question that northern Colorado Springs is a place that pleases the eye, but life is easier here, too. Initially well-planned for a growing community of officers and their families when the Air Force Academy was built, the area has since grown to include more non-military than military families. Hundreds of newcomers move here annually because of the life style and our nationally honored public school system – Academy District 20. They also come for the area’s family-oriented services, the challenges provided to our golfers, tennis buffs, cyclists, skiers and runners. And last, but not least, it’s to buy and revel in the ownership of one or more of our 40,000+ lovely, livable properties -- most of which were built in the recent past and that boast the latest floor plans, fixtures and amenities. And we’re still building!

Your kids will be immediately smitten by the outdoor ice hokey rink. Parents buying northern Colorado Springs real estate will feel comforted that the finest of medical care, including a brand new hospital with a state-of-the-art birthing unit, is readily available in the northern Colorado Springs. In addition to the Air Force Academy, this is the home of Focus on the Family, New Life Church, the headquarters of several national mission organizations; six, stunning retail properties some combining hotels, indoor malls, move theatres and restaurants.  In these times it’s also nice to know we are home to the headquarters for, or the Colorado Springs divisions of, countless nationally known employers.

Don’t have enough reasons to consider life in the northern Colorado Springs area?  How about the fact that the 60+ neighborhoods in northern Colorado Springs are just 15-25 minutes from the Army’s Fort Carson, 10-20 minutes from Peterson Air Force Base, 5-15 minutes from the Air Force Academy, 15-20 minutes from the business hub in downtown Colorado Springs, 20-25 minutes from employers in south Douglas County and less than an hour from the Technology Center and most of the businesses in Denver. That also means that Bronco’s, Nuggets, Avalanche and Rockies’ games are just an hour away. Add to that the fact that north Colorado Springs residents are also less than 2 to 2/12 hours from such prime ski experiences as Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek and Aspen.  So what else could you want?
